Underarm yeast infection treatment

A moist, irritated underarm can support yeast, but eczema, contact allergy, shaving irritation and bacterial infection may look alike. A clinician may ask when the rash began, inspect its edges and consider other causes if it is unusual or recurrent. Treatment chosen for vaginal thrush is not automatically suitable for underarm skin. The product, strength, application area and length of use depend on the diagnosis and your health circumstances.

Use the recommended antifungal on clean, thoroughly dry skin and follow the label or clinician’s instructions. Wash your hands before and after application. Keep the fold dry, wear loose breathable fabric and change damp clothing promptly. Avoid perfumed deodorant, harsh soap, shaving and scratching until the skin settles. Do not add steroid, antibiotic or combination creams unless advised. If symptoms improve quickly, complete the advised course so the rash can be properly cleared.

Contact a clinician if the rash is worsening, spreading, very tender, broken, oozing or not improving as expected. Fever, pus, marked swelling, red streaks or feeling unwell require prompt attention. Repeated episodes may need evaluation for skin conditions, moisture triggers or health factors such as diabetes. Ask for advice before self-treating if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised or taking several medicines.
