Types of Pimples on the Nose

The nose has many oil-producing pores, so blackheads and whiteheads can appear on the bridge, sides, or tip. A red raised bump or a pus-filled spot reflects inflammation. A tender bump near a nostril may instead involve a hair follicle, particularly after trimming, plucking, or rubbing.

Acne can affect the nose as part of a wider facial pattern. Folliculitis produces hair-centred bumps, while Razor Bumps follow ingrown hairs. Rosacea may bring persistent redness and bumps across the central face. Perioral Dermatitis is more often around the mouth, and Hormonal Acne can involve the nose as well as other areas.

Clean the nose gently and avoid pressing, extracting, or inserting tools into the nostril. Pause irritating scrubs and fragranced products. If shaving or trimming seems related, use clean equipment and avoid cutting too closely. Persistent or recurrent bumps should be assessed so Acne or another condition is treated appropriately; LED Light Therapy may be discussed for selected acne.

Seek medical advice for increasing pain, warmth, swelling, crusting, recurrent pus, or redness spreading from the nose. Get prompt care for swelling near the eye, severe headache, fever, or feeling distinctly unwell.

Ask whether the bump is pore-related or hair-centred, whether nose products or hair removal are contributing, and what to use safely near the nostril.
