Types of Pimples on the Face

Small dark or pale dots commonly represent open or closed clogged pores. Red raised spots are inflamed bumps; spots with a pale centre contain pus. Deep, firm, sore lesions sit beneath the surface and deserve attention because they can leave lasting texture or colour changes.

The distribution gives context. Acne often affects several facial areas. Hair-centred bumps may suggest Folliculitis, especially after friction or hair removal. Small bumps around the mouth may fit Perioral Dermatitis. Rosacea can cause facial redness and bumps, while Hormonal Acne may be concentrated along the jaw or chin.

Wash with a mild cleanser, use lukewarm water, and avoid abrasive tools, picking, and heavy products that clog pores. Keep pillowcases, phones, and makeup tools clean without over-washing the skin. If breakouts persist, a clinician can distinguish Acne from a look-alike and select treatment; LED Light Therapy may be considered for suitable cases.

Book an assessment for painful deep lesions, repeated breakouts, scarring, persistent marks, or bumps that do not respond to gentle care. Seek prompt help if swelling spreads quickly, the eye becomes painful or swollen, or you develop fever.
