What should you know about triple paste diaper rash?

Nappy rash commonly reflects prolonged contact with wetness, stool, friction, or irritants. A thick barrier can reduce contact between the skin and the nappy contents while the surface heals. A rash that is bright red in the folds, has small separate spots, or follows antibiotic use may need a different assessment because yeast can be involved. Blisters, sores, crusting, or rapidly spreading redness also point away from simple irritation.

Change nappies promptly, rinse gently with lukewarm water or use fragrance-free wipes, and pat rather than rub. Apply a generous layer of barrier paste to clean, dry skin; do not scrub every trace away at each change. Give short, safe periods without a nappy when practical and avoid fragranced products. If a clinician suspects yeast, they may recommend Topical Antifungal Treatment. Emollient Therapy may also support a damaged skin barrier.

Arrange medical advice if the rash is not improving, keeps returning, involves the skin folds, or develops blisters, open areas, pus, bleeding, fever, or marked pain. Seek urgent care if the child seems very unwell, is difficult to wake, or has rapidly spreading redness.

Ask whether the pattern looks like irritation, yeast, allergy, or bacterial infection, and how often the paste should be reapplied. Ask which ingredients to avoid and when a prescribed treatment should replace or accompany barrier care.
