What should you know about triflow spirometer?

This small device uses chambers and floating indicators to give immediate feedback as you breathe in through a mouthpiece. A slow, steady inhalation can move the indicators in a controlled way. The reading is affected by technique, posture and effort, so it should be interpreted alongside your symptoms and the plan from your healthcare professional. It is not the same as formal spirometry, which measures lung function with a recording device.

Sit upright and keep the device level. Exhale comfortably, seal your lips around the mouthpiece and inhale gradually. Follow the target and repetition plan given to you; avoid forceful sucking or repeated breaths that make you light-headed. Clean the mouthpiece as directed, keep the device dry and do not share it. Continue prescribed medicines and follow-up even when the indicators move well.

Get urgent help for sudden severe breathing difficulty, chest pressure, fainting, blue lips or new confusion. Arrange medical advice if breathlessness, wheezing, fever or chest discomfort is worsening, or if the exercise repeatedly triggers distress or dizziness.

Ask which target and schedule apply to you, whether you should pause between breaths, and how your progress will be assessed. Confirm when the device should be stopped or reviewed.
