Tonsillitis lasting 2 weeks: what to know

A sore throat can outlast the initial infection, but symptoms continuing for two weeks make it useful to check the diagnosis and recovery. Possible contributors include persistent inflammation, a bacterial infection such as Strep Throat, or a nearby problem causing referred Earache. The clinician may inspect the tonsils and neck, ask about Fever and Swollen Glands, and decide whether a throat test or another examination is appropriate.

Arrange a GP Consultation and record changes in pain, temperature, swallowing, voice, and hydration.
