What should you know about throwing up spots of blood?

Small streaks may follow forceful vomiting, irritation in the throat, a nosebleed, or bleeding gums. Blood that is mixed into vomit, appears bright red, or looks dark and grainy can also indicate bleeding higher in the digestive system. The source cannot be identified reliably from colour alone.
