What should you know about t cell lymphoma?

T-cell lymphomas can behave differently from one another and may affect lymph nodes, skin, blood or organs. The subtype is established through a biopsy, laboratory marker testing and review by a haematopathologist. Doctors may use a [PET-CT Scan](/treatments/diagnostics-and-staging/pet-ct-scan/) and blood tests to map involved areas.

Possible presentations include a growing painless lump, fever, itching, tiredness or [Night Sweats](/symptoms/night-sweats/). These symptoms are not specific to lymphoma, and their presence does not establish a diagnosis. Your stage, subtype, general health and treatment goals guide the plan.

Arrange care with a haematology team experienced in lymphoma. Keep a record of fevers, new lumps, appetite, weight changes and medicines. Ask about infection prevention, vaccinations, fertility, work and energy conservation before treatment begins. Supportive care can address pain, sleep, nutrition and emotional strain alongside cancer treatment.

Contact the treatment team urgently for fever or chills, difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, severe weakness, uncontrolled vomiting, heavy bleeding or a rapidly worsening rash. Sudden facial or neck swelling, or a new severe headache, also needs prompt assessment. Use the emergency service for collapse or severe breathing problems.
