Syringoma symptoms and signs

Syringomas are benign growths associated with sweat ducts. They are often smooth, firm and small, with several bumps appearing close together on the lower eyelids or upper cheeks. They may also occur on other parts of the face, neck or body. Most people notice a texture or appearance change rather than a major physical sensation.

Itching, tenderness or redness can happen when the surrounding skin is irritated, but these features are not enough to identify the cause. Other conditions can resemble syringomas, so a new or uncertain bump should be examined rather than diagnosed by appearance alone.

Take a clear note of when the bumps appeared, whether they are changing, and whether they are linked with rubbing, a new product or eye irritation. Use gentle skincare and avoid squeezing or scraping them. A clinician can inspect the distribution, surface and firmness and decide whether any further assessment is needed.

If the bumps are stable and do not bother you, observation may be reasonable after diagnosis.
