Symptoms of untreated type 2 diabetes

When blood glucose remains high, the kidneys pass more glucose into urine and pull extra water with it, causing thirst and frequent urination. Dehydration and altered glucose use can leave you tired or cause weight loss. Over time, high glucose can injure small blood vessels and nerves, affecting eyesight, kidney function, sensation in the feet and wound healing. Some people have few symptoms, so feeling well does not rule it out.

Mention thirst, urine changes, weight, vision, skin infections, sexual health and any tingling or numbness. Do not wait for symptoms before attending planned checks. Sudden facial drooping, one-sided weakness, trouble speaking or sudden loss of vision requires emergency care because it may indicate a stroke.
