Short answer

Sweaty hands and feet during pregnancy may follow hormonal and temperature changes, but persistent or sudden symptoms should be discussed with your maternity clinician.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why pregnancy can change sweating

Pregnancy can alter how your body handles heat, activity, and emotional strain. Warm weather, extra layers, nausea, or reduced fluid intake can make sweating feel more noticeable. Sweating on the palms and soles may also occur as a separate excessive-sweating pattern. Damp feet can become irritated, and Athlete's Foot can cause additional itching or scaling. Sweating alone does not show that a pregnancy problem is present; what matters is the onset, severity, accompanying symptoms, and your overall wellbeing.

Comfort and treatment choices

Keep rooms comfortably cool, wear loose breathable clothing, and replace damp socks. Drink fluids according to your maternity team's advice, particularly if vomiting or diarrhoea is present. Dry carefully between the toes and avoid harsh or perfumed products on sensitive skin. Do not start Prescription Antiperspirant, Iontophoresis, or another treatment without checking whether it is appropriate during pregnancy. Bring the product name and ingredient list to your clinician.

When to contact your care team

Seek urgent help for sweating with fainting, chest pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, severe headache, marked weakness, or inability to keep fluids down. Contact your maternity team promptly for fever, racing or irregular heartbeat, painful urination, new swelling with feeling unwell, or a clear change from your usual pattern. Arrange a non-urgent review if sweating repeatedly disrupts sleep or daily tasks.

Questions to bring

Ask whether your symptoms fit expected pregnancy changes, whether another condition or medicine could be contributing, and which skin products are suitable at your stage of pregnancy. Tell them about night sweating, itching, palpitations, fever, fluid loss, and any recent treatment or supplement.

Questions people ask

Is sweating in pregnancy always a concern?

Not always; warmth and hormonal changes can contribute, but a persistent or unusual pattern should be reviewed with your care team.

Can I use a strong antiperspirant while pregnant?

Ask your maternity clinician before use because product ingredients and your individual circumstances need consideration.
