What should you know about sweat under breast causing rash?

Intertrigo often develops where skin touches skin and stays warm or damp. The fold may feel sore, sting, itch, or look red and softened. Yeast or bacteria can overgrow in damaged moist skin. A new product or fabric can cause contact dermatitis, while heat rash, psoriasis, ringworm, scabies, or atopic dermatitis may mimic irritation. The edge, scale, spread, and symptoms help a clinician tell these apart.

Wash gently, rinse away cleanser, and pat the fold completely dry. Change damp bras or clothing, choose breathable materials, and allow air to reach the area when practical. Avoid scrubbing, fragranced products, and tight undergarments. Do not share towels. A clinician may recommend treatment for inflammation, yeast, bacteria, or another diagnosis; the wrong cream can mask or aggravate some rashes.

Arrange an assessment if the rash lasts, returns often, spreads beyond the fold, cracks, smells unusual, or fails to improve with moisture control. Seek prompt care for marked pain, pus, rapidly spreading redness, fever, or feeling unwell.

Ask whether the rash is intertrigo, yeast, contact dermatitis, or another condition; whether a swab or examination is needed; and how to keep the fold dry while treatment works. Mention new products, antibiotics, diabetes, and recurrent episodes.
