Sun spots on the upper lip: what to know

A solar lentigo can appear as a tan, brown, or deeper mark on skin that receives regular daylight. The upper lip is also exposed to irritation from hair removal, cosmetics, or licking, which can leave darker pigment after inflammation. Melasma may affect the upper lip as a broader, often symmetrical area rather than one sharply defined spot.
