Sudocrem on scalp psoriasis: what to know

Scalp psoriasis can cause defined red or darker plaques with scale, itching, and flaking that may extend beyond the hairline. A thick barrier cream does not remove the underlying inflammation, and applying it through dense hair may make washing and scale management harder. Scratching can break the skin and increase soreness. Dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, or infection can look similar, so a diagnosis matters before changing treatment.

Avoid picking scale and wash gently rather than scraping it away. Use a treatment designed for the scalp when prescribed; options can include Medicated Shampoo Treatment or Topical Corticosteroids, with the product applied to the scalp rather than the hair. A dermatologist may discuss Excimer Laser Therapy for selected areas. If Sudocrem has already been used, soften and remove it gently during washing, and stop if it causes burning or worsens flakes.

Arrange an assessment if itching, flaking, redness, or cracking is persistent, spreading, or affecting sleep.
