What should you know about subcision after one session?

Subcision uses a needle or similar instrument beneath a depressed scar to release fibrous attachments that pull the surface down. The area may look swollen or uneven immediately afterward, and bruising or tenderness can last during early healing. The visible response depends on scar depth, skin behaviour and whether another treatment is needed for surface texture or volume. One session gives your clinician information about how the scar responds; it does not define the outcome on the day of treatment.

Follow the treating clinician’s instructions for dressings, cleansing, pressure and activity. Do not press, pick or massage the area unless specifically advised. Record changes with photographs taken in similar lighting, and attend the planned review before deciding whether further treatment is appropriate. Contact the clinic for increasing pain, redness that spreads, warmth, drainage, fever, or swelling that worsens instead of settling. Urgent assessment is needed for severe allergic symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, or rapidly changing skin colour. Keep the area protected while arranging advice.
