What a stye in the right eye means

The stye may be at the lid edge or deeper on the inner eyelid. It can cause a tender bump, puffiness, redness, watering, or crusting. Right-sided location does not predict severity or explain why it developed; rubbing, blocked oil glands, and local irritation can all contribute.

Check whether the eye itself sees normally and whether redness is staying on the eyelid. A firm lump that remains after tenderness improves may be a different blocked-gland problem and deserves review if it persists.

Apply a clean warm compress to the closed right eye for several minutes at a time. Repeat regularly, wash hands before touching the eyelid, and avoid squeezing the bump. Do not use eye makeup or contact lenses while the eye is irritated, and do not share towels.

Arrange medical advice if the eyelid swelling is worsening, redness spreads, pain becomes strong, or symptoms keep returning. Seek urgent help for reduced vision, severe light sensitivity, fever, marked facial swelling, severe eye pain, or difficulty moving the eye.
