Stomach cramps and body aches

An infection can produce abdominal symptoms together with muscle aches, fever, chills, tiredness, or headache. Influenza and COVID-19 may cause body aches with digestive symptoms. Travel, animal exposure, or insect bites can point toward illnesses such as brucellosis, dengue fever, or malaria. If aches continue without an infectious pattern, fibromyalgia or hypothyroidism may also be considered. The combination does not identify one cause by itself.

Rest, drink fluids in small regular amounts, and choose light meals if your stomach allows. Check your temperature and note when cramps, aches, vomiting, diarrhoea, cough, rash, or urinary changes began. Avoid strenuous activity while feverish. Tell a clinician about recent travel, mosquito exposure, unpasteurised dairy, animal contact, sick contacts, and new medicines.

Seek urgent care for severe or one-sided abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, faintness, confusion, difficulty breathing, a stiff neck, a spreading rash, yellow skin, blood in stool or vomit, or very little urine. Get prompt advice after travel if fever and body aches are prominent, especially after mosquito exposure. Arrange review if symptoms persist, recur, or interfere with normal activity.
