What should you know about spider veins around nose?

Around the nose, these vessels can look like fine red lines, branching marks, or a small network beside the nostril. Sun exposure, skin sensitivity, heat, alcohol, hormonal shifts, and repeated flushing may make them easier to see. Rosacea commonly presents with facial flushing and visible vessels, but a nose vein alone does not establish that diagnosis.

The appearance is different from the larger, deeper veins usually discussed as varicose veins. A clinician considers the colour, pattern, symptoms, and nearby redness before recommending care.

Use broad-spectrum sun protection, avoid deliberate tanning, and choose gentle cleansers and moisturisers if your skin flushes or stings. Do not squeeze, scratch, or burn the vessel. A photograph taken before treatment can help compare later changes.

For persistent visible vessels, a dermatologist may discuss pulsed dye laser treatment or IPL photofacial. Sclerotherapy is generally designed for selected larger veins and is not automatically suitable for delicate facial vessels. Treatment may require more than one appointment, and temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or pigment change can occur.

Book an assessment if the area is new and rapidly changing, painful, persistently crusted, or bleeding, or if flushing comes with eye irritation or facial swelling. Seek urgent help for heavy bleeding, sudden facial swelling, or breathing difficulty.
