Skin Tag in Nostril: What to Know

A true skin tag is a benign growth, usually soft and sometimes attached by a narrow base. Inside the nostril, location and the surrounding lining matter because minor trauma can cause bleeding and inflammation. Crusting, repeated bleeding, one-sided blockage, a firm base, or a lesion that keeps enlarging calls for examination rather than a visual guess.

Avoid picking and limit rubbing from tissues or nose hair trimming. Saline spray or a humid environment may ease dryness, but do not place creams, acids, or freezing products on an unknown bump unless a clinician specifically advises it. Arrange an assessment if it persists, catches, blocks airflow, or bothers you. If removal is suitable, a clinician may discuss a procedure such as electrosurgery or another form of skin tag removal; the method depends on the exact site.

Seek prompt care for recurrent nosebleeds, a lesion that grows or changes colour, increasing pain, pus, foul-smelling discharge, fever, or worsening one-sided blockage. Get urgent help for heavy bleeding that does not settle with direct pressure, rapidly increasing swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe facial pain. These signs require evaluation and do not diagnose the bump.
