Assessment may involve repeated skin biopsies, blood tests, examination of lymph nodes, and a PET-CT scan when the team needs to assess activity elsewhere. Night sweats, fever, unexplained weight change, or marked tiredness should be reported because they can affect the evaluation.

Arrange specialist review for a rash that persists despite usual treatment, changes in texture or colour, forms lumps, or spreads to new areas. Keep a record of treatments tried, itch severity, and photographs taken in consistent lighting.

Treatment depends on the subtype, skin extent, symptoms, blood and lymph-node findings, and previous treatment. Options may include skin-directed care, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or immunotherapy. For selected advanced cases, CAR T-cell therapy or an autologous stem cell transplant may be discussed by a specialist team.

Seek prompt review for rapidly spreading patches, new firm nodules, open or infected areas, swollen lymph nodes, or severe itch that prevents sleep. Seek urgent help for fever with feeling very unwell, breathing difficulty, sudden confusion, or extensive skin breakdown.
