What should you know about sanitas microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion uses a handheld device to abrade or lift superficial skin cells while the treated area is moved over the skin. It is generally used for a dull or uneven surface, rough texture, and some superficial congestion. It does not remove deep scars or diagnose the cause of pigmentation.

Temporary tightness, redness, sensitivity, dryness, or mild swelling can occur. The response may be more noticeable if the skin barrier is already irritated. Tell the provider about eczema, active acne inflammation, cold sores, recent sun exposure, or a tendency to develop dark marks after irritation.

Before treatment, share your current skincare products and medicines, especially exfoliating acids, retinoids, or products that make your skin more sun-sensitive. Do not schedule treatment over sunburn, an open wound, or an active skin infection. Your provider may pause irritating products around the appointment.

Afterward, use a gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and broad-spectrum sunscreen. Avoid scrubs, waxing, strong acids, and picking at flaky skin until sensitivity has settled. A chemical peel may be discussed as an alternative, but it uses a different type and depth of exfoliation.

Contact the provider if redness, swelling, burning, blistering, crusting, or pain is worsening rather than easing. Seek prompt care for pus, spreading warmth, fever, eye exposure, or a new rash beyond the treated area. Persistent darkening or lightening should also be assessed.
