A consultation assesses the pattern and cause of hair loss, the density of the donor scalp and the design of the recipient area. Individual follicular units are collected or prepared and placed into small sites so the new growth follows a natural direction. Existing hair can continue to thin if the underlying condition is untreated.

Early shedding of transplanted hairs can happen before later regrowth. The scalp may feel tender, tight, numb or swollen for a while. Results develop gradually, so a clinician should explain the expected timeline for your particular graft plan rather than promise a fixed outcome.

Before treatment, disclose medicines, bleeding problems, scalp disease and previous procedures. Afterward, follow washing and sleeping instructions, avoid rubbing or picking crusts, and protect the scalp from strong sun while it heals. Take only the pain relief or other medicine recommended for you.

Ask whether your pattern resembles male pattern hair loss, female pattern hair loss or traction alopecia. Medical treatment may protect existing follicles, while PRP for hair loss or scalp micropigmentation may be discussed as alternatives or complements.

Contact the clinic promptly for worsening pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, heavy bleeding or rapidly increasing swelling. Seek urgent help if swelling affects the eyes, throat or breathing. A small amount of tenderness or crusting can be part of healing, but a clear deterioration needs assessment.

Ask how the donor area will be protected, what technique is proposed, how existing hair loss will be managed, when to wash normally, and which symptoms should trigger an urgent call. Request a realistic discussion of density, scarring and recovery.
