What to know about robotic surgery for ovarian cyst removal

The robotic system does not operate independently. The surgeon sits at a console, views the pelvis with a camera, and moves the instruments with controlled hand movements. Incision soreness, tiredness, bloating, and light vaginal bleeding may occur for a short time. Keep the wounds clean and attend the follow-up visit so the pathology result and next steps can be discussed.

Contact the surgical team promptly for fever, worsening abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, increasing redness or drainage from an incision, difficulty passing urine, or bleeding that is heavier than the team described. Seek emergency help for sudden severe abdominal or pelvic pain, fainting, chest pain, trouble breathing, or a swollen painful leg. These symptoms can signal a complication and should not be assessed by waiting for the routine follow-up appointment.
