What should you know about RF microneedling under eyes?

Skin below the eyes is thin, mobile, and close to the eyelid, eye surface, and important supporting tissues. A device may be used to create controlled microchannels and deliver radiofrequency heat, but the depth and energy must be selected for the anatomy being treated. Under-eye hollows, dark circles, visible vessels, puffiness, and fine lines have different causes, so one treatment may not address all of them.

Swelling, redness, tenderness, pinpoint marks, dryness, or temporary unevenness can follow treatment. The area may look more puffy for a short period because of inflammation. A consultation should include an examination of the eyelids and the surrounding skin, plus a discussion of whether another approach is more appropriate.

Tell the clinician about eye disease, dry eyes, contact lens use, recent injections or surgery, eczema, cold sores, allergies, medicines, and any previous reaction near the eyes. Do not proceed over an active rash, infection, or irritated eyelid. Ask exactly which part of the under-eye area will be treated and what eye protection is required.

Afterward, keep hands and unapproved products away from the area. Use the prescribed or recommended bland skincare, avoid rubbing your eyes, and protect the skin from sunlight. Follow instructions about lenses, makeup, exercise, and heat. Do not apply strong exfoliants or retinoids near the eyes until cleared.

Contact the clinic promptly for increasing swelling, worsening pain, spreading redness, discharge, or skin changes that are not settling. Seek urgent eye or emergency care for vision changes, severe light sensitivity, intense eye pain, difficulty moving the eye, marked facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. These symptoms should not be attributed to routine recovery without assessment.

Ask about the clinician’s experience treating the under-eye area, the intended target, needle depth, energy settings, eye protection, and expected swelling. Ask which symptoms require same-day review and whether your eye history changes the treatment plan.
