During consultation, identify the area and whether laxity, fine lines, scars, or texture is the main goal. Mention active dermatitis, acne, infection, cold sores, keloid scarring, medicines, and recent procedures. Use gentle products after treatment, avoid picking, friction, intense heat, and direct sun, and wait for the provider’s advice before restarting retinoids or exfoliants. Compare photographs under similar lighting rather than judging the result during early swelling.

Contact your provider if redness or swelling spreads, pain intensifies, or the area becomes hot, increasingly tender, or produces discharge. Blisters, open skin, fever, pronounced color change, or asymmetrical swelling require prompt assessment. Breathing difficulty or rapidly developing facial swelling is an emergency.
