What should you know about RevLite Q-switched Nd:YAG laser?

Q-switched means the device releases energy in very short pulses. Nd:YAG refers to the laser medium and its available wavelengths. In dermatology, the light can be selected for a particular pigment or application, while the clinician adjusts fluence, spot size, and pulse settings to the person and the area being treated.

The same laser family may be used in different protocols, including pigment-focused treatment and selected hair or nail procedures. A device label does not by itself identify the correct treatment; the diagnosis, target, skin tone, and treatment history guide the plan.

Tell the clinician about tanning, darkening after skin injury, medicines that increase light sensitivity, cold-sore history, and previous laser reactions. Protect the area from sun before and after treatment. Follow instructions for cleansing and moisturising, and leave any crusting or temporary colour change undisturbed. Attend review if the clinician asks to check the response before changing settings.

Get advice promptly if pain, swelling, blistering, or colour change becomes more pronounced after it had started settling. Pus, spreading redness, fever, or marked tenderness can indicate infection and needs clinical assessment. Seek urgent help if swelling affects breathing or vision.

Ask what the laser is targeting, which wavelength is planned, how your skin tone affects the settings, what changes are expected during healing, and when the response will be reviewed.
