What should you know about Restylane under-eye filler?

Short answer

Restylane under-eye filler may soften a hollow beneath the eyes, but careful assessment is needed because the area is delicate.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Hyaluronic-acid injectable

Selected under-eye hollows
Main limitation
Does not treat every cause of dark circles

What it can and cannot address

Under-eye filler places hyaluronic-acid gel beneath selected areas of the lower eyelid and cheek transition. By adding support under a hollow, it can reduce a shadow caused by contour. It is not a treatment for every form of dark circles: pigment, visible vessels, thin skin, puffiness, and surface texture may need different care.

The under-eye has little room for swelling, so bruising, tenderness, puffiness, unevenness, or a bluish appearance are possible. A clinician should examine your anatomy, skin quality, eye history, previous filler, and expectations before recommending injection.

Planning treatment

Before an appointment, list medicines and supplements, disclose allergies and previous procedures, and mention any active rash, infection, or eye symptoms. Ask when the early swelling should be reassessed and what activities or products to avoid during recovery.

Follow the individual aftercare plan, avoid rubbing the area, and do not massage a lump unless the treating clinician directs you. Further information is available in [Under-Eye Filler](/treatments/injectables/tear-trough-filler/), [Tear Trough Hollows](/conditions/tear-trough-hollows/), and [Hyaluronic Acid Filler](/materials/hyaluronic-acid-filler/).

When to seek care

Contact the clinic for worsening pain, spreading redness, heat, drainage, unusual firmness, or a pale or mottled colour change. Seek urgent care for visual changes, severe eye pain, a severe headache, weakness, or trouble speaking after treatment.

Questions for your doctor

Ask what is causing the hollow or shadow, whether filler is suitable, where it would be placed, how complications are handled, and whether a non-injectable option could address your concern. If colour is the main issue, ask how [Dark Circles](/symptoms/dark-circles/) differ from a structural hollow.

Questions people ask

Is under-eye filler suitable for everyone?

No. Suitability depends on anatomy, skin, eye history, existing puffiness, and the cause of the concern.

What should I do about a new visual symptom?

Seek urgent medical help rather than waiting for routine swelling to settle.
