Remedies to Remove Dark Circles

Under-eye darkness may look brown, blue, purple or shadowed. Thin under-eye skin, rubbing, sun exposure, tired-looking eyes, allergies and inherited facial structure can all contribute. Atopic dermatitis may cause itch and rubbing around the eyes. Tear trough hollows create a depression that casts a shadow; creams cannot fill a hollow. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser, avoid rubbing and remove makeup without pulling the skin. Protect the eye area from sunlight with suitable sunscreen and sunglasses. Treat itch or eczema with professional guidance rather than applying strong products near the eyes. If hollows are the main feature, an experienced clinician may discuss under-eye filler, including its limitations and risks. Do not use acids, bleaching products or retinoids close to the eyes without advice.

Seek medical advice for sudden one-sided darkening, swelling, pain, redness, discharge, vision changes or a new rash. Arrange assessment if persistent rubbing, itch or scaling is present, because controlling the eye-area condition may prevent further darkening.
