How to reduce wrinkles around the eyes

The thin skin around the eyes creases when you smile, squint, or make other expressions. Over time, reduced elasticity and sun exposure can leave lines visible even when the face is relaxed. These are often called crow's feet. Dryness may make fine lines look sharper, while hollowing or shadowing can make the area seem more aged without being a wrinkle itself. An examination helps separate these concerns.

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen around, but not inside, the eye area and use sunglasses to reduce squinting. Moisturiser can soften the look of surface lines; avoid rubbing, fragranced products, and unapproved creams close to the eyes. A clinician may discuss Botox when repeated muscle movement is the main contributor. Dermal fillers may be considered for selected hollows or volume changes, but injections near the eye require careful assessment of anatomy, medical history, and the treatment goal.

Seek urgent medical help for sudden eyelid swelling with breathing difficulty, facial weakness, vision change, severe eye pain, or a rapidly spreading rash. Arrange assessment for a new one-sided change, a persistent scaly patch, bleeding, or irritation that does not settle after stopping a product. After an injectable treatment, worsening pain, pale or dusky skin, or visual symptoms needs immediate attention.
