Why the distinction matters

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled or solid growth associated with an ovary. Cysts differ in size, appearance, symptoms, and cause; some are monitored while others need treatment. Red light devices used on the skin deliver light to superficial tissues and are not a way to examine, shrink, or remove an ovarian cyst. A device marketed for acne or facial skin therefore cannot be assumed to treat a pelvic finding.

If a cyst has been seen on imaging, follow the review plan given by your gynaecologist and ask what changes should prompt contact. Keep a record of pelvic pain, bleeding, cycle changes, bloating, or urinary pressure. Do not place an LED panel over the abdomen as a substitute for prescribed care.
