Recovery Rash in Dengue

Dengue Fever may cause a blotchy or widespread rash as the illness changes. Skin can look flushed, patchy, or itchy, and the rash may come and go. A rash is one possible presentation of dengue; it does not show how severe the illness is by itself. The period around fever settling still deserves attention because warning symptoms can emerge then.

Rest, drink fluids as advised, and use gentle, fragrance-free skin care. Keep nails short and avoid scratching, which can damage the skin. Track temperature, drinking, urine output, bleeding, and changes in alertness. Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory pain medicines unless a clinician specifically tells you to take them; ask what pain relief is appropriate. Arrange a GP Consultation if the diagnosis is uncertain or symptoms are changing.

Seek urgent medical care for severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding, easy bruising, breathing difficulty, marked weakness, fainting, confusion, or inability to drink. A returning Fever, cold or clammy skin, or much less urine also needs prompt assessment. Do not judge urgency by the rash alone.

Ask which symptoms to record, when blood tests should be repeated, which medicines and fluids are suitable, and when you can safely return to work, exercise, or mosquito-exposure settings.
