Really itchy hands and feet: what to know

Peeling, scaling, or cracking between the toes can occur with Athlete's Foot. Itchy, fluid-filled small blisters on the sides of fingers, palms, or soles fit Dyshidrotic Eczema. Redness or burning after a new soap, glove, shoe, detergent, or cleaning product can reflect Contact Dermatitis. Scratching can break the skin and make irritation or infection harder to settle.

Rinse off suspected irritants, pat dry carefully, and use a fragrance-free moisturiser on dry areas. Keep feet dry, change damp socks, and avoid sharing footwear or towels. Do not pop blisters or scratch open skin. A clinician can decide whether an antifungal, anti-inflammatory, or another treatment fits the appearance; avoid applying several new products at once.

Arrange a dermatology assessment if itching persists, spreads, repeatedly returns, or interferes with sleep. Seek prompt care for rapidly increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, severe pain, fever, or difficulty walking. Sudden swelling of the lips or tongue, breathing trouble, or widespread hives needs emergency help.
