What should you know about random dizziness while sitting?

Short answer
Dizziness while sitting can still involve the inner ear, dehydration, low blood sugar, anxiety, medicines, anaemia, or an irregular heart rhythm.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why it can happen at rest
Sitting makes a sudden drop after standing less likely, but it does not exclude other causes. A spinning sensation after turning your head can fit benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Feeling faint with sweating, shaking, hunger, or confusion can occur with low blood sugar. Thirst, heat, recent illness, or poor intake can contribute to dehydration or heat exhaustion. Stress or rapid breathing may create lightheadedness, while tiredness and breathlessness can accompany anaemia. Palpitations, an uneven pulse, chest discomfort, or breathlessness raise concern for a heart rhythm problem such as atrial fibrillation.
Notice whether the room spins or whether you feel you may black out. Also note whether symptoms begin after meals, during stress, in heat, with head movement, or after a medicine.
What to do now
Stay seated or lie down, place both feet securely, and ask someone to remain nearby if you feel unsafe. Do not climb, drive, or stand quickly. Breathe slowly and normally, sip water when appropriate, and eat if you have missed food and can swallow safely. Check your pulse only if you know how, without delaying care. Keep a symptom diary with posture, trigger, duration, meals, fluids, medicines, and associated signs. Arrange a medical review when episodes return or occur with palpitations.
When to seek care
Call emergency services for new weakness on one side, facial drooping, speech difficulty, severe chest pain, severe breathlessness, collapse, seizure, a sudden severe headache, or inability to coordinate walking. Seek urgent advice for ongoing vomiting, a head injury, or dizziness with an irregular heartbeat or fainting. A routine appointment is appropriate for recurrent episodes, new hearing symptoms, or a possible medicine effect.
Questions for your doctor
Does the sensation sound like vertigo, lightheadedness, or near-fainting? Could my medicines, meals, fluid intake, blood count, or heart rhythm contribute? What should I do if it happens while alone?
