What should you know about a post-BBL compression garment?

After a Brazilian butt lift, swelling and tenderness can affect the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks. A garment may help control swelling and support tissues while they heal. The surgeon's instructions take priority because pressure that is useful on one area may be unsuitable on another. Some garments are designed to leave space around the buttocks so the transferred fat is not compressed directly.

A garment should feel supportive rather than sharply painful, numb, cold, or restrictive. Skin folds, rubbing, and trapped moisture can irritate healing wounds. Changes in fit may be needed as swelling settles.

Wear the garment for the schedule your surgical team gives you, and ask before removing it for washing or sleep. Check the skin each time for pressure marks, blisters, colour change, or worsening swelling. Keep incisions clean and dry according to your aftercare plan. Avoid sitting directly on the buttocks if instructed; use the positioning method recommended by your surgeon. Do not alter seams, add tight layers, or borrow a size without professional advice.

Contact your surgical team promptly for increasing pain, one-sided swelling, wound separation, foul-smelling drainage, fever, or skin that becomes dusky, pale, cold, or numb under the garment. Seek urgent help for sudden breathlessness, chest pain, coughing blood, fainting, or severe calf pain and swelling. Loosen or remove the garment only as your clinical team advises if it is causing marked pressure or colour change.
