Positive amniocentesis test results: what they mean

Amniocentesis examines cells from amniotic fluid. A positive result does not describe every aspect of a baby's health; it refers to the particular condition tested for. Your report may name a chromosome change, a genetic condition, or a result that needs further clarification. Some results are available quickly, while more detailed testing can take longer.
