What should you know about plasma rich platelet therapy?

A clinician draws blood and processes it to separate plasma containing a higher concentration of platelets from other blood components. The prepared product may then be injected or applied to a planned area. Platelets contain signalling substances that may support the body’s repair processes, but the response depends on the tissue, condition, preparation method, and individual health.

Get prompt advice for increasing pain, spreading redness, warmth, pus, fever, unusual bleeding, marked swelling, numbness, or weakness after an injection. If the treated area is the scalp, seek review for severe headache, worsening tenderness, or signs of infection.

Ask what problem PRP is intended to address, how the preparation will be made, what improvement can reasonably be assessed, how follow-up will work, and what alternatives are available.
