Plasma pen day by day: what to expect

On the day of treatment, the area can feel warm, tight, or tender. Small dark dots or crusts may form where the device contacted the skin. During the next few days, redness, puffiness, dryness, and mild itching can be noticeable, especially on delicate facial skin. The crusts should loosen naturally as fresh surface skin develops; picking them can increase irritation and the chance of marks. Once the crusts have shed, the area may remain pink, darker, or lighter than nearby skin while it settles. Recovery differs with treatment depth, body site, skin tone, and individual healing.

Follow the clinician’s cleansing and ointment instructions, wash hands before touching the area, and keep the skin protected from direct sun. Do not scrub, peel, wax, or apply irritating cosmetics until the surface has recovered. Avoid heat, swimming, and strenuous activity if they increase redness or discomfort. Use only products your treating clinician has approved, because some active ingredients can sting healing skin. Arrange follow-up if the appearance is not progressing as expected.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain, warmth, swelling, or redness is worsening rather than easing, or if you see pus, spreading redness, fever, or a bad smell. Seek urgent medical help for eye pain, vision changes, marked facial swelling, or trouble breathing. These symptoms need assessment rather than more home products.
