What should you know about pico pigment laser?

A pico laser releases energy in extremely brief pulses. For some pigment targets, the energy disrupts colour particles so the body can clear them. The approach may be considered for sun spots, selected marks after inflammation, or other diagnosed pigment problems. Melasma is more complex and can be sensitive to irritation and light, so a laser discussion should include non-laser care.

Pigment is not one condition. A mark may reflect inflammation, medication, hormones, sun exposure, or a less common disorder. Treating an undiagnosed changing lesion as a cosmetic spot can delay appropriate care.

Bring a list of medicines and skincare products, and mention recent tanning, rashes, peeling, cold sores, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or a history of colour changes after procedures. The clinician may recommend a test area or a period of skin calming before treating a larger region.

After a session, follow the provided cleansing and moisturising plan. Avoid picking flakes, heat exposure, aggressive exfoliation, and unapproved bleaching products. Protect the area from ultraviolet light, since sun exposure can deepen or reactivate pigment while the skin is settling.

Contact the clinic if redness spreads, pain intensifies, blisters form, or the area becomes wet, crusted, or infected-looking. Arrange medical assessment for a spot that changes shape, colour, or texture, bleeds, or does not behave like the other treated marks. Urgent help is appropriate for breathing trouble or severe facial swelling.

Ask what type of pigment is present, whether a test spot is appropriate, which wavelength will be used, what alternatives exist, and how recurrence or post-treatment colour change will be handled. Ask when makeup, exercise, shaving, and normal skincare can resume.
