What should you know about pico laser for skin lightening?

Short answer
Pico laser can target selected pigment and improve uneven tone, but it does not safely lighten every area or change your natural skin colour.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

- Reduce selected dark marks and improve tone balance

What skin lightening means here
In clinical use, the goal is usually to reduce the contrast of specific dark marks rather than bleach healthy skin. Short laser pulses can fragment pigment in selected targets, while the skin gradually clears the treated particles. Darkening may come from melasma, sun spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or another diagnosis, and each may respond differently. Treating the wrong cause or using excessive energy can worsen uneven tone, especially in skin that marks after irritation. Diagnosis comes before choosing a laser.
Plan treatment carefully
Have a qualified clinician examine the colour, depth, distribution, and trigger of the pigmentation. Mention recent sun exposure, pregnancy or hormonal changes, eczema, acne, previous reactions, and products such as retinoids or exfoliating acids. A treatment plan may use conservative settings, a test area, several appointments, and daily broad-spectrum sun protection. Use only the cleanser, moisturiser, and pigment-care products recommended for your skin. Do not pick flaking areas or combine procedures without guidance. Laser Toning and IPL Photofacial may be alternatives, but they are not interchangeable with pico laser.
When to seek help
Call the clinic if redness is spreading, pain is worsening, blisters appear, the skin breaks down, or treated areas become increasingly dark or sensitive. Pus, fever, or swelling around the eyes needs prompt medical assessment. Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty or vision changes. Pause active skincare and further treatment until the cause is reviewed.
Questions to ask
Ask what diagnosis is being treated, whether a test spot is appropriate, how your skin tone affects the risk of dark marks, what sun protection is required, and how recurrence will be managed after the laser course.

Questions people ask
Can pico laser lighten the whole face?
It is generally planned for specific pigment or texture concerns, not indiscriminate lightening of healthy skin.
Can pigmentation return after treatment?
Yes. Sun exposure, hormones, inflammation, or the original skin condition can trigger pigment again.
