The device delivers flashes of light that are absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft and follicle. This can slow the growth cycle, but it does not remove every hair immediately and results vary with hair colour, skin tone, body area, and treatment consistency. It is different from a clinic IPL photofacial, which is planned and delivered for skin concerns by a professional.

Read the device instructions, patch-test as advised, and begin with the lowest comfortable setting. Treat clean, dry skin on the recommended schedule; do not flash over tattoos, dark moles, open wounds, or irritated skin. Avoid plucking from the root between sessions because the light needs the hair pigment pathway. Protect treated skin from strong sun and stop if the area becomes increasingly sore.

Mild warmth or temporary redness can occur after a flash. Seek medical advice for blistering, marked swelling, spreading redness, severe pain, pus, or a colour change that does not settle. A clinician can also assess new excess hair, especially when it appears with irregular periods or other hormonal changes.
