Pelvic pressure points

People may describe pressure at the vaginal opening, behind the pubic bone, deep in the pelvis, or toward the rectum. It can become more noticeable after standing, lifting, coughing, sex, or a bowel movement. A feeling of something coming down or a visible vaginal bulge can occur with pelvic organ prolapse, while muscle tension, constipation, or other pelvic conditions may feel similar.

Write down the exact location, triggers, duration, and whether lying down changes the sensation. Also note urinary leakage, incomplete emptying, constipation, bleeding, discharge, or pain. Avoid straining and heavy lifting until you have advice if these activities clearly worsen symptoms. A clinician can examine the pelvic support and muscles; pelvic-floor physiotherapy or a vaginal pessary may be considered when appropriate.

Arrange a medical review for a persistent pressure point, new bulge, worsening heaviness, bleeding, pain, or bladder and bowel problems.
