What should you know about PD lung cancer?

PD is not one diagnosis. In a pathology discussion, it can relate to PD-L1 or programmed death pathway proteins, which are tumour markers used in treatment planning. In a scan or response assessment, PD commonly refers to progressive disease, meaning the cancer has grown or new disease has appeared compared with earlier imaging. The exact meaning depends on the sentence, test, and date in the report.

Bring the report and earlier scan summaries to the appointment. Ask whether PD describes a biomarker, a change on imaging, or both, and what action follows.
