Pain During or After Sex: Causes and Care

Burning or stinging at the entrance may reflect dryness, irritation, pelvic floor tightening, or a skin condition. Deep pain with thrusting can occur with endometriosis, an ovarian endometrioma, pelvic inflammation, or other pelvic conditions. Seek urgent help for severe pelvic pain, fainting, fever, heavy bleeding, repeated vomiting, or sudden pain with a possible pregnancy. Arrange timely assessment for new bleeding after sex, sores, marked swelling, or rapidly worsening symptoms.
