What should you know about osteosarcoma spindle cell?

The word spindle describes the shape of the cancer cells under a microscope. It does not describe a symptom or tell you how far the tumour has travelled. A pathologist reviews a biopsy, while imaging shows the bone involved and checks nearby tissues and other parts of the body. The report may be discussed by an orthopaedic oncology team, radiologist, pathologist and medical oncologist.

Take the pathology report and scan results to a specialist bone-tumour service. Ask whether the biopsy was planned so its track can be removed during the operation.
