What should you know about ordinary for blackheads?

A blackhead forms when oil and shed skin cells block a pore and the opening remains exposed to air. The dark colour comes from oxidation at the surface, not poor hygiene. Blackheads commonly appear on the nose, forehead, chin, chest, or back. They can occur alone or as part of acne; many clustered, persistent open comedones may fit comedonal acne. Inflamed, tender bumps or pus-filled spots suggest additional acne changes rather than a simple blackhead.

Cleanse gently twice daily and after heavy sweating, using lukewarm water and non-scrubbing fingertips. Choose products labelled non-comedogenic when possible, and avoid squeezing, pore strips, abrasive brushes, or picking, which can inflame the follicle and leave marks. A topical retinoid may keep pores from plugging, but it can irritate at first and needs careful use around the eyes and lips. A trained professional may perform an acne extraction facial for selected lesions. More extensive acne deserves medical review; isotretinoin treatment is reserved for particular patterns and requires clinician supervision.

Arrange a dermatology assessment if lesions are painful, widespread, scarring, repeatedly inflamed, or unchanged after a consistent routine. Seek advice for sudden, unusual, or very itchy bumps, since not every dark pore-like spot is a blackhead. Tell the clinician about pregnancy, breastfeeding, sensitive skin, and all products before starting prescription-strength treatment.
