On and off fever and dengue

Dengue Fever can cause fever with headache, pain behind the eyes, Muscle Aches, Joint Pain, nausea, or marked tiredness. Some people also notice Chills or Easy Bruising. A fever pattern by itself cannot confirm dengue; clinicians consider mosquito exposure, travel, local transmission, examination findings, and the timing of symptoms.

Symptoms can change as the fever settles, so feeling better does not remove the need to watch for warning signs. Keep a record of temperature, pain, fluid intake, vomiting, bleeding, urine output, and alertness.

Rest and take frequent fluids, including oral rehydration drinks if advised. Use a thermometer and document each reading. Ask a clinician or pharmacist which fever medicine is appropriate; avoid aspirin and do not take anti-inflammatory medicines unless a clinician says they are suitable, especially if bruising or bleeding is present. Arrange a GP Consultation if dengue is possible or symptoms persist.

Get urgent medical help for severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding from the nose or gums, blood in vomit or stool, unusual sleepiness, confusion, faintness, breathing difficulty, cold clammy skin, or inability to drink. Seek prompt advice for new bruising, reduced urination, or worsening symptoms as the fever changes.

Ask whether your travel or mosquito exposure makes dengue plausible, whether testing is useful at this stage, how much fluid to take, which medicines to avoid, and what symptoms require emergency care.
