A CO2 laser can produce concentrated heat and tissue injury. Medical resurfacing requires a regulated clinical environment, trained assessment, protective equipment, controlled settings, sterile technique and a plan for healing. An engraver’s ability to mark materials does not establish that it is suitable for skin.

Using an industrial laser on the body can cause burns, eye injury, scarring, infection and lasting changes in skin colour. Online demonstrations or device labels cannot establish safe treatment settings for a person.

Do not test an engraver on yourself or another person, and do not adapt its accessories or software for cosmetic use. For resurfacing, arrange an assessment with a qualified medical professional who can examine your skin, review medicines and explain alternatives.

A clinical CO2 treatment may use the same broad laser family but differs in its device, delivery system, safety controls and medical supervision. Ask to see the treatment device and understand who will operate it before consenting.

After any laser exposure, seek urgent medical care for an eye injury, vision change, severe burn, blistering over a large area, breathing symptoms or uncontrolled pain. A smaller burn still deserves prompt assessment if redness, swelling or discharge worsens.

Ask whether the proposed treatment uses a medical CO2 platform, who will operate it, what protection is provided for your eyes and skin, how the area will be cared for, and which alternatives may suit your concern.
