Short answer

Nutrition can support people living with obesity by improving meal quality, energy balance and related health risks through personalised, sustainable changes.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How food and health connect

Obesity is influenced by biology, sleep, medicines, stress, access to food, activity and eating patterns, not by willpower alone. A nutrition plan can address hunger, portions, meal timing, drinks and the balance of vegetables, fruit, whole grains and protein. Health conditions such as hypertension, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, acid reflux, gout, gallstones and obstructive sleep apnoea may affect which changes are appropriate.

Build a workable plan

Start with one change that fits your routine, such as replacing sugary drinks, adding vegetables to a familiar meal or planning a protein-rich breakfast. Eat slowly and notice fullness; avoid skipping meals if it leads to overeating later. Keep favourite foods in a balanced pattern rather than creating forbidden lists. A dietitian or GP can adapt advice to culture, budget, medicines, pregnancy, kidney health and other conditions. Movement and sleep support the plan but do not need to be used as punishment.

When to seek care

Arrange a clinical review if weight changes are rapid or unexplained, eating feels out of control, or food changes cause dizziness, weakness or distress. Seek care for symptoms linked with diabetes or high blood pressure, and for loud snoring with daytime sleepiness. Chest pain, severe breathlessness or sudden neurological symptoms require urgent emergency assessment.

Questions for your doctor

Which health checks are suitable for me? Could any medicine, sleep problem or condition affect my weight? What nutrition target is realistic for my routine? Would a dietitian or structured weight programme help?

Ordered by verification status and how complete each clinic's public record is, then alphabetically. This is a directory listing, not a ranking — Zavis does not rate or recommend providers.

A factual listing drawn from the DHA, DOH and MOHAP licence registers. It is not a referral, an endorsement, or advice that any of these providers is right for you.

Questions people ask

Should I follow a highly restrictive diet?

Highly restrictive plans can be difficult to maintain and may miss nutrients; a tailored pattern is usually safer to discuss with a clinician.

Does obesity reflect poor choices?

No. Weight is shaped by biological, social, environmental and medical factors, so respectful support matters.
