What should you know about Nd:YAG laser removal?

Removal can mean reducing unwanted hair, addressing selected pigment, or treating another suitable target; it does not describe one single procedure. The wavelength can reach deeper skin structures, and the device is adjusted so the intended target absorbs energy while nearby tissue receives less heat.

The result depends on what is being removed, its colour and depth, the treatment area, and how the skin reacts. Several appointments may be advised because targets can respond at different stages. A consultation should clarify the aim rather than treating the word removal as a promise of complete clearance.

Tell the clinician about tanning, darker marks, medicines that increase light sensitivity, previous reactions, cold sores, and any active skin irritation. Do not wax or pluck hair before hair-focused treatment unless the clinic says otherwise. Follow instructions about shaving and stopping irritating products.

Eye protection is used during treatment. Temporary warmth, redness, swelling, or a change in the target's appearance may occur. Clean the area gently, leave blisters or crusts alone, and protect healing skin from sunlight.
