Nasolabial Fold Thread Lift

A thread lift places threads under the skin to provide temporary mechanical support and encourage a healing response around the treated area. For nasolabial folds, the plan may address cheek descent or sagging skin rather than filling the line directly. Polydioxanone thread is one material used for this purpose. The result depends on tissue quality, thread placement, facial movement, and the amount of laxity; a thread lift is not the same operation as a facelift.

Bring a list of medicines, allergies, previous cosmetic procedures, and conditions that affect healing or bleeding. Ask the clinician to mark the planned vectors and explain how smiling, chewing, and sleeping may feel during recovery. Follow instructions about cleansing, exercise, facial pressure, and follow-up. If the main concern is sun-damaged skin or mild sagging, non-thread options such as HIFU skin lifting may be discussed; a facelift is a different option for more extensive laxity.

Call the treating clinic for increasing pain, spreading redness, drainage, fever, a visible or displaced thread, new facial asymmetry, or difficulty opening the mouth. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, rapidly expanding swelling, or sudden vision symptoms. Do not pull at a thread or apply forceful massage while waiting for advice.

Ask what tissue is being lifted, how the fold may change, and what the clinician will do if the result is uneven. Discuss thread material, expected swelling, activity limits, review appointments, and alternatives suited to your skin and facial structure. Ask how sun exposure and your usual expressions may affect the plan.
